Bodywork
Introductory Session-- 2 hours-- $100--includes:
15-20 minute intake conversation to document the horse's current and past health status, current and past activity, current owner/ rider/ trainer observations on movement / behavioral concerns.
Full-body palpation to evaluate and document areas of tension and/or compromised range of motion.
Note: horses are not typically evaluated in motion prior to bodywork session so that they are in a parasympathetic (rest and digest) state rather than a sympathetic (fight/ flight) condition at the time of the session. A movement observation session can be arranged, but time for the horse to return to a quiet state prior to the bodywork will need to be scheduled.
Application of light-touch and subtle movement techniques to ask the horse to release tension in key junctions of the body. Close observation of the horse's response to techniques guides the weight and duration of each technique, following a "layer-by-layer" approach: some techniques will be repeated multiple times as the horse releases more and more through the session.
Post-session documentation of areas of greatest release, suggestions for follow-up bodywork schedule, and post-bodywork exercise protocols will be provided.
Follow-up Sessions-- 75-90 minutes-- $75
Same as above, but with a shorter intake (just updates since previous session) and generally (though not always) shorter session of bodywork. This modality is cumulative, so in follow-up sessions, the horse can generally release subsequent "layers" of tension more efficiently.
Intro Package-- first three sessions if purchased all at once-- $225
Barn Package-- 2 or more sessions booked at the same barn on the same day-- $10 off each session
Demonstrations
For riding clubs, school groups, clinics, or similar: 30-45 minute demonstrations of simple, effective Masterson techniques you can do at home with your own horse to relax and improve bodily communications -- $50
